Adey Nyamathi, ANP, PhD, FAAN. As of January 2017, I have been appointed as Founding Dean and Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Irvine, Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing. For the last 32 years, I have been at the UCLA School of Nursing in key leadership positions. I received my PhD in Nursing at Case Western Reserve University, Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in 1983 and a MSN in Nursing and Adult Nurse Practitioner training at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1978. My passion is working with vulnerable homeless, formerly incarcerated, and drug-using adults and adolescents at risk for HIV/AIDS, TB, and hepatitis. I have been and continue to be well funded by NIDA and NIMH for over 30 years and have conducted research in Nutrition, Indian Traditional Systems of Medicine and mind-focused strategies.
